The Fitzpatrick Scale — Finding Your Real Skin Type
Dermatologists classify skin into six types by how it responds to a first, unprotected summer sun exposure — not by shade at rest. Type I always burns and never tans (think very fair skin, red or blonde hair, freckling). Type II usually burns and tans minimally.
